INEND has had to face the unprecedented. In 2020, our resilience was tested to the maximum as an organization that advocates for human rights while supporting sexual and gender minority communities and allies, like Bodaboda and Matatu Operators. As Covid raged through the African continent, lockdowns and curfews reigned supreme in many countries. Personal physical and financial security was under siege. Many lost their livelihoods, even more, found themselves behind locked doors for extended periods of time with perpetrators of abuse, and all this while queer refugees continued fleeing in search of safety.
