About INEND:
Initiative for Equality and Non Discrimination (INEND) is a value-based local not-for-profit organisation that researches and undertakes strategic actions towards equality, acceptance and inclusion in the Coast Region of Kenya. Initiative for Equality and Non Discrimination was established in 2015 in response to the need for new, expanded and diversified organising, on issues affecting sexual and gender minorities. INEND strategically and systematically engages with various actors, particularly known perpetrators of violence and discrimination, to reduce violations against sexual and gender minorities.
Position Overview.
To provide operational leadership and technical expertise for the implementation of the monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) framework, provide guidance and support and ensure that all projects and programs embed MEL systems and processes in their activities, generate and document good practices for adaptation and use to improve performance.
Key Roles and Responsibilities |
1. Leadership and technical support • Carry out direct MEL, providing technical support and oversight to the team and partners • Provides leadership within the Programmes team overall on issues of monitoring and learning. • Provides capacity building, technical support and training to the team and partners in MEL |
2.MEL activities coordination
• Lead the implementation of the monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) framework • Ensures that projects and programs have effective systems, processes and procedures for the determination of progress against indicators in line with the framework • Ensures that the MEL guidelines and tools are up to date and effectively used by all projects and programs • Generate, consolidate and regularly avail required data and information to facilitate projects and programs / organisational wide knowledge management and learning •Prepares and disseminates MEL critical inputs from the team, external partners and • Leads the conducting of research on monitoring, and evaluation activities in line with the agreed MEL framework to promote accountability for performance |
3.M&E reporting •Oversee documentation and reporting of findings from monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) initiatives • Provides technical leadership on monitoring and reporting • Checks and verify qualitative and quantitative data submitted for reporting • Leads the consolidation of monitoring data on all projects and programmes effective and uniform reporting against log-frame and performance indicators • Provides data/information and supports the programme team in preparing quarterly and annual narrative reports • Communicates to stakeholders about reporting deadlines and provide advice and assistance to partners on reporting |
4.Research and evaluation processes • Implement MEL strategy to ensure that monitoring data and evaluations can test the theory of change and contribute to learning; • Provides operational technical leadership and support to ensure the project and programs can measure changes, improvement and add to the body of knowledge on effective strategies to address key challenges/issues • Supports the programme teams to compile baseline, mid-term and end of programs evaluations and research • Supports research/evaluation data collection, visits, review draft reports and provide technical feedback to ensure quality analysis |
5. Documentation and dissemination of good practices and challenges
• Implement strategies for identifying, reflecting on and disseminating learning internally and externally • Supports the programme team in organising and facilitating programme planning and learning meetings and ensures main outcomes and lessons are documented and shared with all stakeholders • Analyses project monitoring information both to inform practice and produce reports and other documentation for Program stakeholders/audience groups. • Works closely with all program staff to ensure effective documentation and dissemination of learning and best practice as well as engaging multiple external stakeholders to support the documentation of evidence and build a supportive environment for learning • Facilitates periodic reflection and sharing of progress, good practices and lessons learned between partners and stakeholders |

Person specification
Educational qualification and experience
• A Degree in either Development Studies, Statistics, Social Sciences, Education or equivalent relevant discipline
Required experience
• At least three years of relevant work experience in M&E processes.
• Training in M&E, Data Management, MIS is essential
